The only reason I can think of for a push rod to come off of the rocker in the 
manner that was described is because the head and/or block was milled during 
the rebuild for better compression and the push rods are now too long.  There 
are two solutions.  The best and more expensive (about $100) solution is to buy 
shorter push rods.  The second and cheapest is to put a spacer between the 
bottom of the rocker pedistals (sp) and the head making sure that the last 
spacer (over #6 piston) has a hole drilled for the rocker shaft oiler.  If you 
have any apprehensions about crafting the spacers, order the shorter push rods.
