Rob, it all comes apart fairly easily and logically. However, the one
stumbling block I had taking my first motor apart (an MGB motor) was the
distributor drive gear. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out why the
camshaft wouldn't pass the 2nd journal before getting stuck. Then only a
few days later did I realise I had left the drive gear in place.
The distributor drive gears can usually be extracted with a long bolt of
suitable thread and diameter, pulling it out through the distributor slot in
the block. Can't recall what it size the bolt I used was though.
Other than that, just becareful not to damage cam lobes or crankshaft
journals.
