Bill,

I also have the factory hardtop on a 73 TR6 and have the same lack-of-seal 
"problem" you are experiencing. Even with the substantial gap at the window 
top where it meets the hardtop weather-stripping I have found the car is 
still fairly sealed against wind and rain. Mine has survived outside 
through numerous recent storms here in CA with no noticeable leakage. Being 
lazy at heart I have learned to live with it.
