I wanted it to lift easily... and float closed on its own
without slamming
so...you get to cal all this stuff

..anyone ever consider simple torsion springs up in the
bonnet
pivot itself (like a big ol' 'merican car  hinge setup)

And my own considerations based on previously seen
workings... is a 'corkscrew' from radiator to firewall with
a rod
attached from the bonnet to a nut on the 'screw'
that 'jacks' up the bonnet. Butr it would need some kind
of break-away slipper clutch to allow it to be
raised/lowered
if power dies.
