It would be more accurate to say that hydraulics is a way to transfer 
pressure.

It would be more accurate to say that Hydraulics is a way to transfer work.
 Not only are you transfering pressure but volume as well.  The change in
volume at the master cylinder is equal and opposite to the change in volume
at the slave.  (omitting compression of the fluid and swelling of the
connection lines, etc.)
