Does anyone know if Standard Triumph made cars in India?

The Standard Motor company of India made a four door Herald for many
years. Until recently (maybe still going for all I know) was the
Standard Saloon in the guise of a Rover SD1 body with a TR or Vanguard
wet liner 4 pot.
I think a number of Herald enthusiasts have tried with varying degrees
of success over the years to export Heralds and parts to the UK and
Europe. Stories are circulating that this is "export of resources"
requiring an export licence which is far from easy to obtain and then
on arrival, there's no certificate of conformity because the car is
radically different to its UK manufactured forebear. One way and
another, it could be summarised as a waste of time
