That makes much more sense than the other the other names I have heard given
to "STC".  And better
still it fully supports the use of the
"Supplemental Title" to change the model year designation.

I have seen many of these STC plates, including two of them on cars I have
owned but never the full
spelling of that, not any evidence that the
original plate had been removed.  Normally (at least on Spitfires) the STC
plate was attached below
the Commission plate on the engine cowl.
