A while later we turned into the dirt road leading to the farm . I shifted

I doubt it. Sounds like you have some air in the hydraulics. Check the
fliud level in the reservoir. If that is OK check the return linkage to
the slave cylinder. I think it is just coincidence. I doubt your incident
is related to your clutch problem.
