The engine is in!

Wait a minute, I've already said that before!....  Ok, the engine is in -- 
again!  With weather reports of fourteen inches of snow for Sunday, my son 
and I labored in a cold, cold drizzel to get the engine/transmission back 
into the car for the second time on Saturday.  And yes, the clutch slave push 
rod is free and clear this time....  

Good news is we got the engine installed in about two hours, whereas the 
first time it took about the whole day.  However lying on wet pavement is not 
really that much fun anymore at the tender age of 48....

Of course, as any of you could have predicted, Sunday turned out to be a 
beautiful clear day, no snow or rain....  

That's ok.  We'll work this week on re-assembling bits and pieces.  The only 
problem I have noticed so far, and it is apparently not a new one, is that 
the alternator pulley isn't exactly lined up with the engine pulley.  Must 
have been that way before and I just didn't notice that the alternator belt 
was slighly cockeyed.  I'll take a closer look to make sure I didn't assemble 
something backwards.  

Oh, and when I lowered the car back down I forgot to remove the can of PB 
Blaster, from underneath.  It is now slightly shorter, but still seems to 
work....

By the way, for anyone interested we have a Technalon cover that we keep on 
the car.  It's made of that Kimberly-Clarke "breathable" material, that 
really does keep the car exterior dry, unless it rains really hard.  Even 
then it doesn't trap the moisture, and drys very quickly. Would highly 
recommend for cars that have to live outdoors.
