  Same as above....don't do this!  YOu will ruin the synchros...

    This all has to do primarily with a clutch that is not fully
disengaging.  Also there is the possibility that your shift linkages are
wrong.  Either the detents are defective, or shift rod(s) are bent.
However, most likely is the clutch.  To check, without pumping the clutch,
depress the pedal, then carefully try to put into reverse (this gear is
unsynchronized) and see if there is any grinding.  If not, partially
remove from reverse (just enough that the gear teeth just touch) and
slowly let the clutch out.  See how far you must let up on the pedal until
you detect the gears begin to spin.  You can tell because you will just
begin to pick up a little snick-snick.  That's all you need. This will
tell how much clearance the clutch has.  If it is reasonable (like two
inches off the floor) clutch is fine.  Then, sad to say, the problem is
inside the box.
