Fuel Tank Connector

Good Morning List,
        The Fuel Tank Connector, that short, fat rubber hose between 
the filler cap and the fuel tank on my TR-3A needs to be replaced.  I 
have a new one but from what I can tell the only way to replace it is 
to remove the fuel tank!!
        If there is an easier way I would love to hear about it.
