Friends -

This past weekend I finally retrieved my '72 Spitfire
from the barn it's been in since '96, when children
and other duties caused me to store it.

Happily, I had consulted the old VTR checklist for
storage so when I installed a new battery and fresh
gasoline, it cranked on first try.

However, it sure is LOUD. I have a Monza exhaust system
on it and that isn't exactly a quiet system, but it
does seem a gread deal noiser than I remember. Perhaps
all the internals have rusted away, or perhaps I'm
just a bit older . . .

Anyway, what choices are there for mufflers these days?
I was completely out of touch with the sports car
world these past few years and I don't have any recent
catalogs. I upgraded the engine when I rebuilt it to
dual SU carbs, a good header and a hotter cam, so I
don't want to lose the performance enhancements with
a stock muffler.

So, essentially, I'm looking for a quieter system that
won't rob my power. Any suggestions?
