I've been told that one can combine the new r 134a with the older r12 with out any modifications to the air conditioning systems. Does anyone know? Ronnie Babbitt < Absolutely not. When you change over you must flush out the system before installing 134. It is not compatable with the oil used in R12 systems. There is a sythetic R12 (isn't that a hoot! Synthetic R12) but I know nothing about it. I am also told that Propane works great, too. But if you get a hole in your evap it can pool in the foot wells and it is flambable (but then so is gasoline). Dave |
