Yes, Ed, you are exactly right. However, many non-electricians (including my wife) use the term 'short' to refer to anything 'not right', including opens, bare wires, bad connections, smoke, etc. Randall fogbro1 wrote: > > Aren't you guys describing an "open", not a "short".
