Hi
My experience with the 1500 engines (in Dolomites) has been if there is any
damage to the crank it will need a rebuild, also check the main bearing cap
nearest the rod for damage, the lack of main's leaves these engines short of
support at the best of times. If your crank is an early one it won't fit
that block as the journals were smaller on the early engines, if it is a
1297 crank, it will require new pistons as the throw is much shorter but the
same rods were utilised and the piston top to gudgeon pin height was
increased. Also the 1500 head will give a very low compression ratio when
used on the 1300 bottom end.

PS BRG = British Racing Green, nice colour, Brooklands green is, in my
opinion, a bit of a something and nothing colour!
