Doug

Thank you very much . If the correct handles are unobtainable , I guess I
could fit TR 3 A door handles , but I'm not sure if I would then need to fit
the whole door locking mechanism from the 3 A as well . My uneducated guess
would be yes . Any ideas ?

I contacted a local company ( Motorbooks : Johannesburg ) to enquire about
the availability and prices of relevant TR 3 books , and received the
following response :
1) " Original Triumph TR2/3/3a " ; ISBN # 1901432033 .Author : Bill Piggot .
Out of stock will be available again in about 4 weeks - price R289,00
( approx. $ 48 )
2) Original or reprint of TR2/3 Service Instruction Manual (as originally
provided for TR mechanics use) . Not available
3) Original or reprint of TR2/3 Spare Parts Catalogue (as used by dealers)
4) Original or reprint of TR 3 Owners Manual .Yes we can get, will take
about 6 - 8 weeks and the price will be approximately R400,00 each.
( approx. $ 66 )

According to Piggot where should the windscreen washer pump and bottle be
mounted ? Pump on dash and bottle on left front fender I guess , but if so ,
how far from what etc. ? I would like it to be original , so I need exact
locations please . Also , where should the long range lamp switch / spot
light switch be fitted ?

TIA

Regarding door handles for the GT kit on your car according to Bill
Piggott's book " ORIGINAL TRIUMPH TR2/3/3A "(ISBN 1-901432-03-3) the
door handles in the Grand Touring convesion kit part # 554313 are not
the same as later TR3a/b handles although I have read else where the
correct handles for your car are not available as a reproduction.
Regarding the rheostat location it's on the same horizontal plane as the
overdrive switch and in board of it closer to the gauges according to
the service instruction manual the hole should already be in your dash
panel for both the rheostat and the overdrive switch. It is supposed to
be 4" from the steering end of the dash board and 2 5/8" above the lower
edge.

Good Luck
