IHMO and from experience in my youth.....Do not use Teflon Tape (the stretchy
white thread sealer tape) around anything that is fuel related...carbs, fuel
pumps, line junctions....for fear of pieces getting into the line and
clogging the jets.

For your leak....check the flair or the ball or ferrel condition on your
fitting (not sure which is used on the 6) for scoring, etc. The liquid
teflon thread dope is generally very reliable....your leak could be be coming
from between the pipe and the fitting...rare, but it happens!

Good luck,
