Had to replace the ignition switch (not the key lock, thank goodness) in the
'75 TR6, as the old one was so worn that the ignition contact was flaky
unless holding the key in the 'run' position. Anyway, the p/n on my old
switch was different from any listed in TRF catalog (gulp) but their sales
person was very knowledgeable and helpful and sold me a different p/n switch
along with free advice as to what wiring changes would be necessary.

As I am an electrician and therefore can relate to wires, that part of the
job went OK. Here's my problem, though: there is a soft sort of collar
around the key lock that is fastened in place with a 'U' bracket and and 2
small studs/nuts. I got these off in order to release the ignition switch
(small screw on the side) but cannot get the nuts started back on the studs
to reattach the collar. This has got to be one of the stupidest designs
ever, a terrible spot virtually impossible to reach. I have tried deep 5/16
socket, needle nose pliers, tweezers, etc., all to no avail. Am I missing
something here?

The wiring turned out to be the easy part. Go figure.

BTW, the new switch I purchased from TRF is genuine Lucas, came in original
box with layers of dust and manufacture date code of 8/78. You go, TRF!
