Tom,

I can comment on headlamps. Last winter I switched to Sylvania
Xtravision Halogen sealed beams. I forget... I think 65/55W or
something. Equal to the modern lights in new cars (except for
the exotic Xenon blue lights on luxury cars). My original old
lamps were so weak that I could not see driving at night... a
real safety issue.

The new lamps give me the same level of light as my 99 Passat.
And they were about 14.95 each at AutoZone.

dear listers,
i'm interested in any and all feedback on your opinions
concerning
halogen headlights and instrument panel bulbs. the "little
british car co."
is advertising these items and i was wondering if they're worth
investing
in. i like the idea about brighter headlights (unless they're in
my face!)
and easier to read dash instruments at night isn't a bad thing
either.
but don't halogen bulbs get awful hot and if so, what's that
going to do
behind my dash (is that my new wiring harness i smell?). your
thoughts/ideas
would be appreciated.
