Dave,
Nice clear description of what *should* be an easy operation, after a little
practice. My problem is that the brake pedal has too much motion in it-- you
have to push it pretty far before you can reach the gas pedal, so
heel-'n-toeing around town (for practice) just isn't feasible.
Put another way, I find that in order to blip the throttle, I have to have the
brakes on hard; can't get the brake pedal close enough to the gas pedal to
reach it, under less-than-hard braking.
(This goes for both my brake pedals, BTW-- the A4 & the GT6)
What I wish is what Carroll Smith described in his racecars-- a brake pedal
that has no apparent motion at all-- it's just sensitive to how hard you step
on it, but doesn't move enough to notice. Humans can modulate force with much
better accuracy than you can modulate motion, with our feet. Requires power
brakes of course, so won't see it on too many Triumphs....
