Orange/Purple wire on a claw type bulb holder...GT6 ???

I have one of these, and Sam Gentry sent me one from an extra harness of
his. Yet, I see no reference to orange at all on any wiring diagrams. What's
the story here? My purple/orange wired bulb holder is hanging down out of my
dash, very near the under-dash ignition (sone kinda light for the key?) with
no obvious place to shove it
