Mucky?  As in lots of rusty sludge in suspension?  Don't know about 250s, but
the 3 engines have been known to get pretty plugged up with this stuff and a
less than thorough rebuild might not remedy it.  What does the coolant look
like to you?  Have you tried aggressively flushing the cooling system?
