I had my 69 Mustang clock converted to quartz many years ago.  It still works 
perfect.  I highly recommend it.  

Also, I believe that it doesn't drain the battery as fast.  

If you can't find a company that does the conversion, send me an email and 
I'll try to find my old receipt, (no guaranties that I still have it stored 
away, though).
