As I've often said -- if you can't hear the valves in a TR3 then it isn't adjusted correctly. My cam is stock so the clearance is .010 which makes a pleasant but noticable "chitter" even with 20w50 Castrol. Since your cam calls for .013 I would expect your noise to be even more so.
