Flushing TR6 heater

Getting ready for winter by checking heater on my TR6.  Getting water flow
through the heater valve, but no heat coming out of heater core.  I will
flush the core by putting a connection from a garden hose to the bulkhead
connection.  Does it matter which connection is used?
