TR-6 Distributor

Hello All,

        Can anyone tell me if it is possible to determine whether or not a 
distributor shaft is wobbly while it is still in the car?  My rotor button 
seems to be striking one of the contacts in the cap, and "wobbly distributor 
shaft" has been mentioned as one of the things to look for.  Another idea was a 
faulty cap.  I have one on order, but it has not arrived yet.
