I need to dip into the collective knowledge once again. I have just been
informed my newly rebuilt sidecurtains will not be ready for Portland. :-(
So out come the old sidecurtrains again. Who needs peripheral vision anyway!
My dilema. I have installed new door panels and have not installed the side
curtain brackets yet. I was holding off waiting for the completed side
curtains to come back. I wanted to make sure the brackets lined up
perfectly with the new side curtain.
I sort of need side curtains for the Portland trip. I am considering
attaching the brackets using my old sidecurtains. Both sets of side curtain
frames (my old ones and the ones getting rebuilt) are original Triumph
parts. I am afraid each frame has been bent, twisted, and otherwise
mutilated in it's own special way over the years.
If I installed the brackets to fit the old side curtains, what are the
chances the new side curtains will fit? Assuming it doesn't, can I
reinstall the bracket to fit the new side curtain with no holes showing?
I was thinking of getting the frames back from the rebuilder, installing
the brackets from the new, uncovered frames. Then, I would bend the old
side curtains as needed to fit, hoping they would not break. This would be
a pain, but seems like the best option to me.
Am I being too cautious? A visable set of holes in my door panel after
fitting my completed side curtains would really ruin my day...
