Any ideas how to fix easy? Would it be the diagphram or just an o
 ring? >>

It's the O-ring, it sounds as if the car is getting to much gas (flooding)
and the time it takes you to add the oil to the dash pot the gas evaporates
and the recently added oil prevents the car from flooding again.
Test it by adding oil before trying to start the car.
