Brake Servo - ISO Words of Wisdom

yesterday morning i lost the brakes on my six. i rebuilt the master and
find the servo unit suspect. it blows air out of the front of the unit
is this normal? is there a test for the unit? i put another unit on and
am sure it's bad (busted diaphragm?) there is so much bleedoff that it
kills the motor when i brake.

assuming my unit is bad can anyone share any hints on getting the unit
open to rebuild it.

any help appreciated
