TR 4 - 250 pedal box

Listers,

I need to help my girlfriend replace the bushings in the brake and
clutch pedals in her TR250.  As I was looking at it I don't see any way
of replacing the bushings without pulling the pedal box out of the car?
The 250 has a brake booster so there is quite a bit of weight there.
Can I take the box out and just let the booster sit there with the bolts
through the firewall?
