I have looked into this issue as I'm one of the people responsible for Y2K
compliance for our company who has divisions nationwide. The only time-date
protocol in car computers is for service interval reminders, (idiot lights).
In fact, these "clocks" are based on operation time, (when the car is
running), or number of days 0-9999. In our investigation, absolutely no
vehicle manufacturers base the operation of the vehicle on time-date. So,
contrary to some of the Y2K alarmists, you're car will still function on
Jan. 1, 2000.
