Pete,

I have (had?) the same problem. I have flushed and COMPLETELY removed
and cleaned the clutch master. The cylinder was a little rough, but
I don't think the stuff is fine rubber particles. I got a new cap
since the old one was once removed by a gorilla DPO with some sort of wrench.
I thought the cap might be bent and not sealing properly. With the new one,
it seems a little better, but I have to go under the car and flush out
the entire system. It looks like there is some discolored fluid diffusing up
out of the master.

Another thought I had was that there was crud/moisture impregnated in the
old flex line causing contamination. OR there is crud strongly adherent
to the copper lines that slowly comes loose.

WHat do you think about these possibilities?

-Tony

That was me!! That was me!! I'll note that Greg used the word "probably"
so I'll not take any offense. But I buy Castrol LMA brake fluid by the
quart, too. It was some OTHER phenomenon filling my clutch cylinder with
black crud. Not only would I constantly and thoroughly FLUSH the pipe and
hose with clean fluid, (and once or twice with alchohol) but I eventually
REPLACED the pipe and hose in hopes that THAT would solve my problem, but
the crud returned every time.

Just had to preserve my reputation here... don't want to get labeled as a
"DPO!!"
