Diff. setup

Listers,
        Can anyone help me to find out how to setup a Spitfire diff with
the collapsable spacer (1976)? I just aquired a 3.63 to 1 set of gears
that I want to try. My Bentley manual says you have to have a "dummy
shaft" and special measuring apparatus, But I have no clue where to
obtain these. Does anyone know of another method,or have the dimensions
of the dummy shaft? I can get and use Dial indicators but need to know
where to start measuring from.
