Yes, I'm here, and I sent out a message this morning, but it must have gotten
lost out there in cyberspace, so I'll copy it here:

Sounds like the motor/bearings are dirty. The extra torque of the high speed
is enough to overcome the "stickiness" and get the motor spinning, after which
the low speed will keep it running. The low speed setting doesn't have enough
torque to "break it loose."

Or, the electrical connections for the low speed are not very good. If the
motor doesn't get full voltage on the low setting, the results could be the
same as above (coupled with dirty bearings).

While we're on the subject of lost e-mail, I'm curious as to the experience of
others on this list. Approximately how much mail does everyone lose in a
typical month? Am I losing more because of AOL, or is this a generic problem
with the internet as a whole?  I seem to lose 3 - 5 messages a month, incoming
and outgoing.

Another reason to follow Art Kelly's advice and send an acknowledgment, if for
no other reason than to let the other guy know his message didn't get lost.
