Shooting from the hip here... literally.
The reason i'll never again use Armorall or like substances on my
steering wheel or seat upholstery is the fact that it is a damn good
lubricant, It makes everything slippery. Soaking from personal
experience, it's no fun to have your butt sliding around on the seat and
your hands (gloves) slipping on the wheel as you try to run the slalom
curse. Even less fun if you are trying to evade some bozo in a pick up
who's superior driving skills have placed him in your lane going the
wrong direction!
The number one aid to safe or fast driving is staying put behind the
wheel. ( Witness Recaro seats, 4 point harness. etc.)
If your energy has to go into keeping yourself in place and fighting
wheel slip (steering wheel that is) it's not going into vehicle control.
Sooner or later you're going to hit something (pick up) or miss
something (slalom gate).
Put it on the roof if you must, but keep it off the seats and steering
wheel!!
