About the Acclaim...
The Honda model that they based the Acclaim on was called the
Ballade. It was in fact a Honda "Civic Mk2 Saloon", fitted with
a five speed manual or a Hondamatic 3 speed semi automatic 'box
beside the transverse four cylinder 1335cc OHC 70 DIN hp engine.
(The original Ballade in Japan was fitted with a 1488cc 80 hp.)

It was said that 70% of the car was British made, and the rest
was genuine Honda parts. Mainly the engine and drive line.

It was marketed within the EU only and never sold outside of the
then boundaries of the EU.
The Acclaim was sold during the model years '82-'84 after which
it was succeeded by the Rover 200 series.
In total they built some 133626 Acclaims during the ~three years.
