Well, I held off until the last day and am now paying for it. My 76
Spit (daily drvr.) failed emissions testing with unprecedented flair!
HC levels at cruise were 064 at idle and a whopping 1711 ppm! CO levels,
8.54 at cruise, 5,81 at idle. CO+CO2 passed.
So, I know its running rich and part of my prob is with a hardly
functioning automatic choke, but can anyone give me any further advice
for getting this thing through? Since my car has headers and is
therefore without one of the emission control valves, I cannot get a
mechanical waiver.
