One Brain Cell Looking for Another

As having been a teenager of the seventies I haven't many brain cells
left.  I have yet another front suspension question.  The ball joint set
I got from TRF (Roadster Factory) has (2) plastic pieces with each ball
joint and I can't for the life of me figure out what these are for other
then presenting me with a trip to the trash can.  They are to small to
put over the nut or bolt for the set.  Anybody got ideas about these?
