Peter,
My first car was an opposed 4 VW Fastback.  Ordered it out for
$3200.--.Great car.  Ran everywhere with it and could do 110 MPH in rare
spurts on level ground.  Mine was a rare engine, real loose and solid. 
Wasn't too bad to work on.
