Yep, my 72 has no tonneau snaps on it.

Yes again, black plastic was the factory standard along with black bezel
gauges until 1973

This was also straight from the factory original, mine still sports the
original (paint) 'matt black' taillight area, and in my onion looks better
than body color-I even carried it over on the back of the small deck
spoiler that I added to the car some 20 years ago.
