>I mentioned the 6 that is for sale for $15,500 with 39k. So today I
found one,
>(on the net somewhere) a '74 with 98k. They were asking $8,750.

I've looked at a magazine called "Old Cars Price Guide" several times
and the price for the TR6 seems low. You can check this out for
yourself at a local bookstore.

The most recent copy I purchased was Oct 96. The prices in the current
issue are similar. I list 1971-75 (others slightly higher).

Excellent: $8000
Fine (well restored): 5600
Very Good ("20 footer"): 3200
Good (driver): 1600
Restorable: 975
Parts Car: 350

I thought I'd look in the $3000 range, but was dissapointed in what I
saw. Sellers tend to inflate the value of their car. Check with local
Triumph and British car clubs. Their members tend to have maintained
cars at more realistic prices.

You might also want to look at the price guide and use it to bargin for
a lower price. Have the seller read the catagory descriptions and pick
the one he thinks the car fits into, then look up the price and have him
try to justify the current asking price. Before thinking of spending
$8000 for a TR6, I'd want to see the awards it won. Realistically,
however, I'd be suprised if you could come within $2000 of the above
prices for a good car, evaluated according to the descriptions in the
magazine.
