  I wouldn't really call that "the usual leak down test", although
it is a useful test.

  The usual leak down test is well... uh.... a leak down test, where
compressed air is fed to the cylinder via the spark hole and the
goal is to find where the air is leaking from and how much (roughly)
is leaking.
