Nothing beats steam cleaning, but I had the same problem in finding someone who had one when I restored my '60 TR3A. I ended up using the new Castrol degreaser with a hose-end sprayer and much use of wire brushes. This stuff is strong! Make sure that you use rubber gloves and goggles.
