I was in San Diego last week (no not for the super bowl!) and went to 2 car
museums, one in downtown at Balboa Park and one north of the city close to
Escondido.

The one in Balboa Park is $6 and was well worth the money. There were many
vintage vehicles from the real early days up to the 70's I belive. There
was a prototype Jag racer, a 60's Morgan, and a nice 60 TR3 and one of the
most interesting to me was the Triumph 1800. I had never seen one in person
and its an interesting looking auto. Also, they have a Packard convertible
the was Steve McQueen's. A very large auto....... I'd recommend it if you
are in the area. Balboa park is nice and there are several other museums
there also, I went in the model train museum, but it is more a series of
very large complex train layouts without a lot of the older Lionel's or
American Flyer. Its $3.

The one outside of Escondido I think is Deer Park, Deerfield. Its a winery
and auto museum. Primarily American iron and some interesting cars. I liked
the 59 Plymouth Sport Fury. We had one growing up and its what I started
dating in....I cannot believe how big they were! If I see one I can afford,
I might get into that too...Maybe I'll just remodel my house and make it
like the house in the TV show Vega$...he drove into his living room. Wife
might have problems with that!
