Is this really true?  Seems hard to believe that one would trash those old
airplanes just for a movie.  Regardless, if you are talking about the 1969
film starring Harry Andrews, Michael Caine, Trevor Howard, et. al. (I looked
it up), you should know that it was a British film, not American.  Kind of hard
to pin this one on Hollywood ...
