Hi all!

Just read in the latest issue of Fortune that voting for the Car of the
Century is going on, among automotive journalists from 32 countries.
The first return results show Japan with only seven cars among the 100,
the U.S. with only 20, and Europe was the big winner, with 73 cars in
the finals. (84 of the 135 journalists are European -- hmmmm...)
Sadly, the Triumph did not make it to the top 100, but Jaguar placed
four cars, and Lotus and MG each placed two cars on the list (don't say
which ones). Lancia placed six (more than any other manufacturer!)!
Other nominees were Austin, Morris, Alfa Romeo, Cistalia, De Dion
Bouton, Delahaye, Panhard, Tatra, and Talbot-Lago. To me it sounds like
these automotive journalists were voting for "Their Favorite Car," not
the "Car of the Century."

The organizers are planning 21 exhibitions and 39 TV specials, with the
winner of Car of the Century to be broadcast world-wide on Dec. 4,
1999. It'll be neat to see what they come up with. In the mean-time, a
big PR campaign for Triumph wouldn't hurt! Know any car journalists...?

Just FYI...
Keep Triumphing,
Susan Hensley %)
