I agree with TeriAnn.  Although it may be physically possible to pull off
everything on the front of the engine and "nurse" the rad out of its place
and then eventually putting it back together;  it is also possible that
the time and effort to do - as you put it - this "major undertaking" would
exceed fixing the seam of the apron to fenders.  And while you have it
apart you can check out everything else on the front end of the car.  Much
easier to work on.
