Oops,

I meant to say from the previous "normal" 1/3 to the now "normal" just
past __1/4__ mark (NOT __1/2__ like it says below). Sorry for any
confusion. I would still be interested in calibrating my temp gauge
though...

        Bill,

I have not changed the sending unit ever. I did however get the
rad
repaired for a leak recently and the indicated temp has gone
down from
my previous "normal" which used to be around the 1/3 mark to the
now
        "normal" just past ***1/2*** mark.

I wonder if there is documentation on how the temp gauges in
TR6s were
calibrated. I propose to do the following test:

        1. Remove the sending unit from the water pump housing.
        2. Prepare a pot of boiling water and submerge the sending unit
in it.
        3. Note the temp of the water with a functioning thermometer.
        4. Correlate the measured temps with the gauge reading to
determine its
        range as the water cools.

Does this sound reasonable or will I not really stress the upper
limit
of the temp gauge with boiling water?

                Peter,

Your temperature readings sound low. Have you changed
the
        teperature
                sender lately?
