Good point. Usually those harnesses are not part of the main harness,
rather they are supplied with the component lamp. Given the mechanical and
electrical similarities between later TR3A/B models and the early TR4
models (which to some degree probably used up leftover supplies first
intended for TR3s), it's not surprising to find the old-style wire in
those applications.
Ok, would-be TR4 judges. Anyone care to try to document the change from
laequered cloth-covered wire to plastic-insulated wire on subassemblies on
the TR4? Can that be done, or is that a classic case of "blimey, mate,
just found another case of those bloody sidelamps in a corner. Get these
to the assembly hall straightaway 'afore Stokes sees 'em!"
