Rich sez..

Last year I bought a 1964 TR4. I have the head off that car, and I plan

Rich-

Rule of thumb (esp for ten thumbed mechanics <g>) is that the printing
(stamped letters or numbers) on the gasket always goes up so that you can
still read it when its on the block. If you have a factory original (yeah I
know you nit-pickers will say that they all come from a factory, but you
know what I mean) gasket, it will have been coated with a sealant which if
you look closely will be slightly yellow, and can be scraped (peeled ?)
from the surface with a sharp implement. This type of gasket requires NO
further sealant of any type.

Still runnin with a steel head gasket myself...
